Howard County Pilot Bikeshare Program

Podium sign as jpgHoward County is launching a pilot bikeshare program with seven bikeshare stations and 70 bicycles serving the Columbia Lakefront, The Mall in Columbia, the new Crescent development, Howard County General Hospital, Howard Community College, Oakland Mills Village Center and Blandair Park.

Bikeshare has proven to be very popular in communities across North America and brings the potential to empower personal mobility, enhance livability, stimulate economic growth, and promote an active and healthy lifestyle for residents, employees and visitors.

Bikeshare was one of the recommendations in the adopted Howard County Bicycle Master Plan (also known as BikeHoward). The general outline for the pilot was provided as appendix 6 in the Howard County Bikeshare Feasibility Study.
